“I am writing to request information under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.
I would like to request data on smoking prevalence in Scotland over time, specifically to understand trends before and after the emergence of vaping products.
Please provide:
1.Annual adult smoking prevalence rates in Scotland from 2006 to the most recent year available.
2.Any breakdown of smoking prevalence data by year that distinguishes between:
- 2006–2012 (prevalence prior to widespread availability of vaping products)
- 2013 onwards (following the introduction and growth of vaping products)
- Any analysis, reports, or internal assessments held by your organisation that examine or compare trends in smoking prevalence before and after the introduction of vaping products.
- Where available, any data or analysis on the relationship between vaping uptake and smoking prevalence in Scotland over this period.
If possible, please provide the data in a machine-readable format (e.g. CSV or Excel).
If any of the requested information is already publicly available, I would appreciate you directing me to the relevant sources.
