Our 10-year strategy
- Smoking
We launched our 10-year strategy committing to improving average life expectancy.
It also aims to narrow the life expectancy gap between the poorest 20% of areas and the rest by 2035.
As part of the strategy on tobacco, we set out to achieve:
- new evidence-informed policies and actions to reduce harms linked to inactivity, alcohol and tobacco
- reducing smoking in areas of high deprivation
- a smoke-free generation
We will achieve this by:
- providing evidence, data and advice to support legislation
- policies and prevention efforts – for example, Good Food Nation – to reduce exposure to harmful products
- tackling accessibility, affordability, availability, price and promotions and prioritising protections for children
- working with partners to implement and show the impact of support services for drinking, smoking cessation and weight management
Together we can create a Scotland where everybody thrives.
