All forthcoming outputs will be published at 9.30am unless otherwise stated.

Viral Respiratory Diseases in Scotland Surveillance Report - As part of Public Health Scotland’s commitment to providing clear, concise and accessible viral respiratory data, there have been some improvements to the presentation this season’s viral respiratory report. These have included updates to the accessibility of figures presented in the report and a change in the title of the report from Viral respiratory diseases (including influenza and COVID-19) in Scotland surveillance report to Viral respiratory diseases in Scotland surveillance report. This weekly release by Public Health Scotland presents epidemiological information on respiratory infection activity, including COVID-19, across Scotland. Due to the dynamic nature of all datasets included in this report, figures contained within each update may be subject to change in future releases. Any revised figures will then be reflected within the latest update.

Scottish Cervical Screening Programme Statistics - Public Health Scotland provides a range of annual statistics relating to the Scottish Cervical Screening Programme, including coverage and uptake by deprivation and age group. In addition, information on laboratory services is available. On 28 May 2025 Scott Heald wrote to Ed Humpherson to request a temporary suspension of the accredited official statistics status for PHS cervical screening statistics following identification of data quality issues. We published data in a new report on 29 July 2025, where these data issues were rectified and revised data back to financial year 2016/17. We continue to develop new statistics that will better reflect how screening services are now delivered. The next release will be published in November 2025.

NHS Waiting Times – Stage of Treatment – 26 August 2025 marked the final quarterly release, with a move to monthly reporting planned from 28 October 2025. This increase in frequency is in response to the current high level of public interest in hospital waiting times and reduces the time lag between the end of the reporting period and the release of data to around 4 weeks. The statistics reported will align to revised criteria in calculating waiting times contained in updated guidance issued by the Scottish Government in December 2023. The first monthly October release will be accompanied by analysis of the changes on the most recent data. For further information please see recent correspondence between PHS and the Office for Statistics Regulation Scott Heald to Ed Humpherson: NHS diagnostics activity and stage of treatment waiting times statistics – Office for Statistics Regulation

Children and young people with cancer - pre-announced for 24 June 2025 has been delayed as changes to the international classification of childhood cancers need to be verified and reviewed by the Scottish Cancer Registry. Once the codes are confirmed the publication will be updated and released as soon as possible.

Alcohol Consumption and Harms Dashboard - pre announced for 26 August 2025 and previously delayed until 23 September 2025, has been delayed until 14 October 2025 as further time is needed to apply methodological improvements to more closely align the analysis produced to date with the International Model of Alcohol Harms and Policies tool that produces the alcohol attributable fractions that support this release.

General Practice in-hours activity visualisation - pre announced for 2 September 2025 has been cancelled due to issues with the timeliness of data supply and data quality concerns with the data this month. It is the intention that the publication next month on 7 October , will include data for July and August 2025.

Physical Activity in Healthcare: A Report on Knowledge, Training, and Attitudes of Scottish Healthcare Professionals - pre announced for 9 September 2025 has been delayed. The research referenced in this report is scheduled to be published in an article in Health Promotion International that is currently under embargo. The PHS report will be published to coincide with the academic article, and the release details will be updated as soon as PHS is notified of the article publication date.

Scottish Breast Screening Programme Statistics - pre announced for 23 September 2025 has been delayed until December 2025. This is due to data quality concerns following data quality assurance checks by the breast screening unit leads.

Congenital Conditions in Scotland - pre announced for 7 October 2025 has been delayed until 28 October 2025. This is to allow for all quality assurance checks to be carried out as unfortunately data was delayed due  to unexpected IT issues/data processing issues.

Care Home Census for Adults in Scotland, Statistics for 2015 – 2025 pre-announced for 30 September 2025 has been delayed until 28 October 2025 to allow additional time needed for quality assurance checks.

In June 2023 the CARDRISS register began registering babies with relevant conditions from pregnancies ending in January 2021 onwards. Previously best estimates of the occurrence of major congenital conditions among pregnancies Scotland were derived from the Scottish Linked Congenital Condition Dataset (SLiCCD), which was created by Public Health Scotland in 2018 as an interim solution until CARDRISS was launched in 2023. Like CARDRISS, SLiCCD was maintained by Public Health Scotland and it drew from existing national health records to provide best estimates of the occurrence of major congenital conditions among pregnancies ending in Scotland from 2000-2021.
